AWARDED ACCREDITATION FROM THE JOINT COMMISSION

Waterloo, Iowa , March, 2017– By demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission‘s national standards for health care quality and safety, Avalon Plastic Surgery Center has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™.

“We sought accreditation for our organization because we want to demonstrate our commitment to patients' safety and quality care,” says Mark Barnard, MD. “We view obtaining Joint Commission accreditation as another step toward achieving excellence.”

The Joint Commission conducted an unannounced, on-site evaluation of Avalon Plastic Surgery Center on March, 21, 2017. The accreditation award recognizes Avalon’s dedication to complying with the Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards on a continuous basis.

Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission seeks to continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of health care accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in health care organizations. The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States, including more than 8,000 hospitals and home care organizations, and more than 6,800 other health care organizations that provide long term care, assisted living, behavioral health care, laboratory and ambulatory care services. The Joint Commission also accredits health plans, integrated delivery networks, and other managed care entities. In addition, The Joint Commission provides certification of disease-specific care programs, primary stroke centers, and health care staffing services. An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.

The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization will be surveying Avalon Plastic Surgery Center on Monday, March 21, 2017.
 
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization will conduct an accreditation survey of Avalon Plastic Surgery Center, 2710 St. Francis Dr., Ste 310, Waterloo, IA 50702 .  
The purpose of the survey will be to evaluate the organization's compliance with nationally established Joint Commission standards.  The survey results will be used to determine whether, and the conditions under which accreditation should be awarded the organization.
Joint Commission standards deal with organization quality and safety-of-care issues and the safety of the environment in which care is provided.  Anyone believing that he or she has pertinent and valid information about such matters may request a Public Information Interview with the Joint Commission's field representatives at the time of the survey.  Information presented at the interview will be carefully evaluated for relevance to the accreditation process.  Requests for a public information interview must be made in writing and should be sent to the Joint Commission no later than five working days before the survey begins.  The request must also indicated the nature of the information to be provided at the interview.  Such requests should be addressed to

The Joint Commission's Office of Quality Monitoring will acknowledge in writing or by telephone requests receive 10 days before the survey begins.  An Account Representative will contact the individual requesting the public information interview prior to survey, indication the location, date, and time of the interview and the name of the surveyor who will conduct the interview. 
This notice is posted in accordance with the Joint Commission's requirements and may not be removed before the survey is complete.
